Heritage Features

I have a personal interest in heritage issues, and am always looking for excuses to write about them. Some are straight-forward – COUNTRY LIFE and HOMES AND GARDENS, for example, but sometimes a little left-field thinking is necessary – a feature about Henry VIII’s armour went into the TES, Hampton Court’s vine found its way into the ILFORD RECORDER and an article about The Natural History Museum ended up in THE STAGE.

My column in the American magazine BRITISH HERITAGE covers all aspects of London, but I also write features about heritage issues for the rest of the magazine.

I write one-off articles for, and have a monthly column in PERIOD HOUSE magazine about practical problems that can be encountered in a period property.

STOP PRESS: My column in Period House has changed as of March 2008. I am now discussing the work of experts in the field of conservation and restoration of period properties. I am very interested to hear from anyone who may have an interesting angle for me.
